Poetry Scripture - Cao Feng - Mayfly, which reads, 

"Mayfly digs and reads, and his linen clothes are like snow. 

My heart is worried about it, and I'm going to say so.

" The tender mayfly has just broken out of the ground, and gently dances its snow-white hemp clothes. The hemp described in the poem is ramie, and the phrase

 "ramie clothes like snow" describes the ramie silk woven from ramie. 

After ramie was made into cloth, 

it was bleached with ash and made into ramie cloth, 

which was then brushed, shaped, 

printed and dyed to become ramie silk comparable to silk, 

which was called "satin" from the Song Dynasty onwards.
